The BodyBolster is approved by the Therapeutic Goods Administration of Australia (TGA)

The BodyBolster is a musculo-skeletal conditioning tool for supporting the spine, stretching and strengthening the whole body (i.e. vertebrae of the spine, ribs, shoulder, girdle, pelvic girdle, hips and all of the muscles that attach to these areas).

In 1991, a physical therapist designed the BodyBolster to facilitate flexibility, back care and strength programs, given at her physical therapy practice.

The concept of mind-body balance was developed. It used advanced physiotherapy, sports medicine, Feldenkrais and behavioural concepts that were made simple and easy to apply.

The key was the patented BodyBolster, which was a focus for the activities. The BodyBolster gave an easy, fun way to help keep your back and entire musculo-skeletal system in top condition. The BodyBolster is a tool for supporting the spine, stretching and strengthening the whole body

The mind-body balance program combined aerobics, stretches and floor-work in an interesting, holistic program that develops the way we move. This program provided health information and services to the ordinary person for their own self-management. Through this program (extending over 2 years) clinical testing was conducted covering over 10,000 clinical treatment sessions involving 1,400 patients.

The BodyBolster performs two main functions:

Postural Support

I. Postural support in sitting situations and lying/propping.

Conditioning Tool

II. Musculo-skeletal “Conditioning Tool” for the torso in lying sitting or reclining situations, in any position – for the purposes of:

1.    Stretching the soft tissues (joints, ligaments and muscles).

2.    Exercising (for mobility and/or strengthen purposes).

3.    Developing/maintaining or enhancing neurological and/or kinaesthetic awareness of the muscles and skeletal system of the torso as well as proprioception (i.e. a sense of “position in space”).

4.    The ability to improve the quality and efficiency of the functional physical performance of the torso and/or the entire musculo-skeletal system with theBodyBolster as a tool for learning about this/these capability/ies.

As a supplier of ergonomic assessment services, we at Assist Group prescribe the BodyBolster…We have found that the implementation of a BodyBolster helps staff incorporate simple, easy to follow exercises into their normal work day...
